Managerial Onboarding

managers beginning their journey? An effective managerial onboarding program provides resources and relationship
building skills new managers will need to be effective in their new role. Onboarding issues to be discussed include:
focusing on organizational objectives, gathering resources, legal responsibilities, team assimilation, and building
strategic alliances.
About the Speaker
Deborah Avrin, SPHR, brings over 18 years human resources and training experience to her company Management Skills
Resource, Inc. Her coaching skills have assisted countless managers to improve their performance in such diverse
industries as financial services, manufacturing, utilities, transportation, education, non-profit and telecommunications.
Deborah’s company Management Skills Resource Inc. works with organizations that want to build the confidence,
competence and courage of their management teams through creative training workshops. Her training style is
interactive and stimulating which makes her a sought out facilitator for human resources and management development
workshops. She is the author and facilitator for the HR Strategic Tools class offered semi-annually through Dallas HR.
Her educational background includes a BBA in Human Resources and a Masters Degree in Organizational Behavior.
Deborah holds a lifetime Senior Professional in Human Resources certification and is an instructor for the SHRM
Workshop for PHR/SPHR certification through the University of Dallas. She served four years on the board of the Dallas
chapter of the American Society for Training and Development including as President in 2007 and regularly volunteers
with the Dallas HR Association.
Deborah is the author of the newly released book The Management Map: Navigation Tools for the New Manager.

This presentation will include an overview and status of the Free Choice Act and NLRB. Also learn what President Obama’
s appointment of Department of Labor Secretary Solis means to employers. White House Administration has stacked
the deck against organizations under the current NLRA. The union now has many of what it wanted in the EFCA under
current law. Most organizations are unaware of this.
In light of all these changes in Washington, we will talk about current employee practices (such as hiring, interviewing,
exit interviewing, background checks, and 50 mile market) and what changes you can expect related to how you are
currently doing business. We will end our time together discussing internal communications training and how it can
benefit your role in Human Resources.

Dennis Dyszelski is president of Professional Consulting Services a nationwide labor relations consulting firm
specializing in helping organizations maintain a union free environment. With his office located in Roanoke, TX., Dennis
brings over 30 years of consulting experience, successfully advising hundreds of clients in health care,
manufacturing, insurance, transportation, utilities, and beverage industries. Prior to consulting, Dennis held the position
of Corporate Director of Labor Relations for Sperry-Vickers in Troy, Michigan. He joined the labor relations consulting
firm Modern Management Methods as a partner in 1976. He formed PCS in 1987. Dennis has worked closely with CEO's,
resolving critical issues, developing communication programs, training supervisors in labor relations, and providing
solutions for counteracting unionization. In addition, he has served as chief spokesperson in labor contract negotiations.
